Hawkesbury ( Sutton Stop )

Yesterday I left my mooring at Hill Morton and only tended to cruise few miles past rugby, because   its few nice moorings places before Brinklow but all was taken so had to cruise and stop right past Bridge 26 ( Oxford North canal )  The mooring is nice and rural but a train line and M6 motorway is close by with all that noise its not the best place to stop for me.

Browover moorings in Rugby, Tesco and other shops close by, and a boat service stop.
On the way out of Rugby
Did do stop at Armada waterside right past bridge 48  and filled on diesel, self declaration ( this photo taken after )

 Last nights mooring
Weather this morning was rainy, but when  rain stopped  I pulled the pins and cruised on.
Not long after my Mooring, M6
 Are now at

Will stay here few days and used chill out, need to relax now, back of my neck have been playing up since I was finished with the work on the boat. But I am great full i was able do the job. Its hard to only do so much when you feeling great. But hay ho have time to feel little poorly now.

Happy bank holiday folks and hopefully weather improves as well.

Here you can see it much better, this tool was easy to use, and was giving back the shine in the paint with out to much hard work.
 All done
She starts to rely looking amazing again.

The other side of boating!

Day 4,5 and 6 the weather have been rely good to me.

A cuppa and then i got the sanding going, this side of the boat was much worse damage, so the sanding took many hours to do. And I think the result also become even better and other side, like I think is the case for most other people, you learn like you do the job.

 Happy with that.
Priming all done, the next day some sanding paper before the painting can begin
 All done,

This mooring at Newbold on avon 14 days was perfect place to be for the job. And was visiting the Pub after hard days work. Its a coop close by and a chippy.
To morrow, stop at Rugby and by a polish tool and get this lady little more shiny, then find a place for the next jobs to be done.

Boat maintain day 3

Another glorious day, little breeze and I am moored so I am out of the sun in the morning, perfect place to do the painting.

First thing in the morning I used sanding paper and rubbed down the part I primed yesterday, was easy doing, light handed.
Then I used a damp clot and degrees-ed what i would paint later, and used masking tape to get a smooth finish.
All ready for the paint job
I used black top coat gloss paint, Used a roller and a brush to smooth the pain of,getting smooth of  any paint drips. Important to only do small parts and finish that of before next one, this pain dry quick.
All painting done, and I am very happy with the result

To morrow I will turn the boat around and hopefully get same mooring space back, and use the next three days getting all rest ongoing jobs done.

Happy days. and I will not bore you with another blog before next week.

Boat maintain day 2

To day the weather was little colder with overcast but temp was 14 so good conditions to get the jobs done.

First ting I did, used a damp clot, to clean away the rust converter on the top of the rusted parts.

When the cleaning was done I treated the rubbing strike with Blacking paint, Verulam are due for full bottom blacking after this cruising seasons are at and end. So the rest will be done that time. But treated parts some was rusted.

Ready to use the paint primer, but first i used masking tape on the top of the gunwale, its anti slip surface to protect and getting a   nice finished as well.

Priming done, masking tape off.

To morrow I will use a fine sanding paper to smooth the primer off before  painting.

Its a good exercise to do boat maintain, cramps last night in my legs, filing knacker in arms and back of my neck, not so often I get pain there anymore, maybe I have screw lose 😏
a relaxing evening will do my body good for the work to morrow.
But now I can hear the PUB calling my name 😄

Boat maintain Day 1

Another lovely day to wake up to, perfect for maintain work to start.

My new sanding tool was doing its job very well.

Important to have safety first.

Some parts was harder to get even off and other parts.

After only 2 and half hours intensive work with brake for gardening and check for missed part I got to the end of sanding.
Used rust converter on parts some was black, this need to be on and work the next 24 hours before the work can commence.

Tomorrow I will prime the parts some are treated with the converter.

Let the work begin!

Yesterday was another sunny day and in stead of only sit in the sun I was cruising up to Rugby, where I needed to stop for shops anyhow.

At Hill Morton three narrow locks, its 2 locks side by side some do this flight quicker, at least sometimes, this canal its little like the waterways M6 in high season.

was getting nice and warm again

To day I did some more shopping, Homebase good for bits and peaches for my sanding job some I will start to do tomorrow morning if weather let me do so. Found a rely nice wide mooring at Newbold 14 days as well. Stocked up with food from Tesco as well and all services done so have plenty of time to potter about.
