Spring Cruise with my best friend Eva and Colin, Mutt, Mo-Mo, and their cat Diesel. I will be travelling with them for 3 weeks!
Our travels started on Tuesday in poring rain, but hay ho weather is what it is.
Some last services and we are of.
Bye bye Brimingham and will be back in end of October
Still smiling, its lovely to be back on the go.
Eva doing our first lift bridge for the day, Shirley lift bridge
Spring is here
Second lift bridge
And we got a good overnight mooring, past bridge 27 ( Stratford canal)
Day two we had the Lap worth 21 looks to do, one of my favourite look flight's, and I was spending loads of time around here before i Got a narrow Boat myself.
Used done the top lock here
Weather was much better this day
few minutes brake before the next lock
This bridge have a gap between so when the was horse drawn boats, the rope could passe true, without no need to loosen the rope from the horse.
In the afternoon we had a good mooring close by Tom o the wood pub. On Grand Union Canal and what a Splendid pub it is I have to say.
Day three
We was planing to have a day of and chill out, but because of weather on Friday would be in pouring rain we decided to do a long cruise day in stead.
What a lovely start of the day.
This is Shrewley Tunnel, it also have a tunnel on the side of it, some was build for the horse..
The most well-known technique of propelling boats through tunnels is legging, whereby boatmen lay on boards across the boat and walked along the side of the tunnel
Here at the top of the Hatton lock flight of 21 broad locks.
Funky fish keep following me, Eva and Colin
After the Hatton 21 and two more locks we had almost two hour relaxing cruise
We had a relaxing evening after a lovely days cruise, with partly sunny but little on the chilly side.
Happy Days.
Since Tuesday we have cruised 30 miles and done 43 Locks.
A day of rest Tomorrow.
