Merry Christmas 2022

The first Christmas on Verulam in years. Normally I would traveled back to Norway for few weeks in December. After Brexit everything changed for many people living abroad, for me this would probably be my last Christmas and winter on my Narrow Boat for years to come. I wish you all a merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

Happy days.

Lets Turn Around at Cambrian Wharf Birmingham

I Have made a YouTube channel, so here its a sample of a clip.
From June 2023 I will make travel blog here and Vblog on YouTube.
The winter have come to Birmingham, even the snow.
Best keeping the fire going 24/7
Dos it getting cold on a narrow boat in the winter ? Is the most asked questions.

Snug and warm stove.

My first Cruise in Three Years.

November 14 I arrived back in the UK after almost three years away. Was such lovely calming feeling be back home on the boat. February 3. 2020 I left Birmingham for holidays in Grand Canary but in stead coming back here i become first stuck in Canaries for 6 months due to corona restrictions. Unfortunate i become really ill of Covid-19 in Mars 2020 as well. And when back in Norway Summer 2020 I become wheelchair bound after a spinal damage. For few months ago I was back up on my feet and now back home on my bellowed narrow boat. For few weeks at least.

Monday this week I had my first little cruise around in Central Birmingham.

Old Turn Junction
This bridge was made from, Horseley Iron Works Staffordshire, year 1827

The captain was really happy here. Happy days.

My good friend Mr C is walking Misty Moo And Mr Mutt

After been away such long time, I had tons of rubbish to trow away so I timed the boat service perfectly with the CRT boat some dos a daily rubbish collect here everyday. Got great help from the two chaps on the boat.

After a pit stop at Sherborne Wharf services, Bought diesel@Coal + Empty Toil cassette.
I did a short cruise past Edgbaston reservoir, ( Birmingham canal Old line, Port Loop )

Canal and River Trust maintains Wharf.
A old factory loading windows, for narrow boats.
You could say 1768 is Port Loop’s Birthday; that’s when construction of the Birmingham canal network began – the first ever canal in the City and was engineered by James Brindley. During its construction, the loop was created and was soon known as the Icknield Port Loop – taking its name from the nearby Roman Icknield Street.

From Old times to the new times.

Great to see they have made it possible to moor here in the future when the build is complete.
Looks great the new waterside flats

On home turps, was a short but lovely cruise.

To next time watch this space...... Happy days.
