DID SOME ONE SAY PLAIN SAILING?

 Hi and welcome back to my Blog. 

I hope you all have had a great Christmas Season so fare. 

Like the Header say, it is defentley  not only plain sailing when living and travel on a narrowboat.
This season it felt sometimes the problems never stoped.
Some problems was more frustrating than others.

 But over all my season 2 on Kirstie`s travels on Narrowboat Verulam was a great time. 

I did explore few new waterways.
Was meeting loads of lovely people.
Had a Catch up with friends I had not seen in 5 years. 
Spent a week with my two daugther`s 
I did travel with some friends of me for about two weeks.
I got couple of days help true Huddersfield Narrow canal from Marsden.

The common problem on this travel season was lack of water in some canals, lack of dredging and shallow sides, did make my single handed traveling rely hard sometimes. 

When traveling so much I do all over the waste canal network in UK and Wales you will understand the big job Canal And River Trust are against.  To have all the waterways open to navigation at all times.

BUT

What i found this year on my travles in the North of England,  I had so much problem getting in thouch with Canal and River Trust costumer services. Partly because I use a Norwegin Phone, but also the Chat services and Online Booking system ( Need to book in advance some locks - Tunnels  - Lift ) do not work properly.
 Online Booking system should have been upgraded to and better and more costumer friendly version. 
Chat service did often not work, even if you come true to a person at the other end. 

Never mind

I will get myself and English Phone number for the next season, hopefully this will solve many of the problems I come over this travel season.

STANDEDGE TUNNEL

 Hi and welcome back to my blog. 

On this weeks not a normal vlog on YouTube I travel true Standedge Tunnel on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.
This tunnel have been on my Bucket list since I first time started to travel on the Canals.
About 15 years I have been messing around the canal network.  

How was it ? 

It was amazing, some parts the tunnel is like a Chatedral and some parts the celing is only 6 foot 2.

Need to have 100% focus, but almost every time time the Canal & River Trust guide said be careful I did bump the side little.  The tunnel have few S bends some do the driving little tricky sometimes. But overall the guide was impressed with my driving.  Always helps with experience. 

Because the celing hight are only 6 foot 2 some parts,  I did hit my hard helmet few times. 

Some facts about Standedge Tunnel 

Standedge canal tunnel is known as the highest, deepest and longest tunnel, it runs for 3.5 miles ( 5.6 km )

It lies 636 feet underground ( almost 194 meters) .  Once the tunnel was completed after 17 years of man hours and opened in 1811 it provided at through route off the pennines.

WOW MY SECOUND BLOG IN ONE DAY.  

LAST YEAR MY TOP CRUSING GOAL WAS  TRAVELING  IN TO LIVERPOOL.
AND IT WAS BETTER THAN I EXPEXTED, DID STAY IN SALTHOUSE BASIN FOR ONE WEEK AND IT ONLY COSTED 10 STERLIG POUND EACH DAY. THAT INLCLUDED ELECTRISITY + WATER AND RUBISH.  TO LIVE AND TRAVEL ON A NARROWBOAT IS AMAZING WAY TO GET KNOWN, ENGLAND & WALES.  I REALY ENJOYED EVERY SECOUND OF MY STAY AT THE BASIN.

My boating season come prompt to and END

 

Hi and welcome back to my Blog. When my boating season started this year I had big plans to update this blog regular basis, something I did not live up too.  So sorry for that.

                                                   You can watch the End of season 2 here.

I am now back to Norway, this year I have been struggle with an open leg wound, had numerous antibiotic corses. My leg wound would not start to heal at all, the pain was also draining.  In the end I had to trow in the towel and Go early back to Norway for treatment at Hospital.  Thankfully the treatment have started to work, but it is a marathon and not a quick fix.

Been and long time coming.

 After a long winter & Spring I am now ready to start my 2024 travel season.
