Tuesday afternoon I was locked down to the river Trent
Was totally full all moorings so was happy to breast up with a fellow boater
After a nervous night sleep I set of at 8.45 am on ebbing tide was five boats going down to Keadby
Lets have a good happy cruise
Tide going slow down
Its going rather fast with the tide
A very nervous smile
It used to have huge boats up here
The convoy was 35 minutes early so we had to stay in the river and wait for the Tide to Turn at 2 pm before entering the lock. And by 2 pm it was totally calm water. Amazing for a inland boater.
Safe and sound in the lock, this lady was leading the convoy, 36 years of boating, she is a proper professional boater. And she hold her age good, 86 years young. She had spoken to CRT and asked for help true the many swing bridges and one lock on the stretch up to Thorne. So I followed her up.
Looking back on Keadby lock.
Vazon Sliding Railway Bridge across the Stainforth and Keadby Canal, near Keadby. Boaters must wait until there is a long enough gap between trains on this before they swing the bridge open.
Amazing
Getting cooler but still smiling
The CRT man was helping us true the swing and lift bridges all the way up To Thorne
For a service thanks CRT ( Canal and river trust )
Approaching Thorne
Found a nice mooring, relaxing
Short way to fill up the diesel tank later day.
To days cruise was of 38 miles ( 61 Km ) and 2 locks and 8 movable bridges done by CRT.
Relax few days now, is needed.
Happy days
Watch this space............
